Transforming the Way Students Think About Business
The School of Young Entrepreneurs (SofYE), the flagship program of the Promise Foundation,
is designed to provide experiences for students to learn aspects of business planning, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship. This is primarily accomplished through the annual SofYE Summer Experience. This d ynamic summer experience, designed for middle school students, will take them on an educational journey to learn real-world entrepreneurial skills and foster a sense of their role in contributing to the greater good.
SofYE also offers students the opportunity to enhance their entrepreneurial spirit with our
Serve, Learn & Earn initiative. Students will participate in an actual retail business
- The SofYE Variety Store -
where they will learn organization and inventory skills, pricing, and profit/loss analysis while earning money for their efforts.
"These kids are so cool. Nice job School of Young Entrepreneurs in shaping the next generation of world-changers! Glad UCSD can play a small part in that."
Dr. Paul Roben, Associate Vice Chancellor, UC San Diego Office of Research and Innovation
SofYE In The News
Point Loma has a new Saturday Farmers' Market in Liberty Station, and SofYE and Middle School students are planting roots there! What a great place for our current “Serve, Learn, & Earn” students and our upcoming SofYE Summer graduates to practice their business and entrepreneurship skills, earn some spending money, and interact with the community. Like our spring flowers in San Diego, SofYE is growing and blossoming. Come browse this amazing Farmers' Market and say hello to our students at the Arts District Liberty Station, next to Sea Hive!
